Family Medicine Center

The Family Medicine Center provides all outpatient primary healthcare services. Family doctors closely monitor the health of you and your family—offering consultations on all health-related issues, treating acute and chronic diseases, advising on disease prevention and health maintenance, prescribing necessary tests, and referring you to specialists when needed. The most important thing is not to delay and to contact your family doctor in a timely manner.

If you are registered with “Meliva” clinics and are covered by compulsory health insurance, primary outpatient healthcare services financed by the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (PSDF) are provided free of charge.

Free Primary Healthcare Services

At “Meliva” clinics, the following services are provided free of charge (funded by PSDF):

Family Doctor Services

• Patient consultations on health issues
• General and specialized examinations
• Emergency medical care
• Advice on disease prevention, healthy lifestyle, and physical activity
• Diagnostic testing within the doctor’s competence
• Diagnosis and treatment of diseases
• Immunization services
• Monitoring of normal pregnancy
• Monitoring of infant and child development
• Preventive health check-ups
• Preventive education

Preventive Screening Programs

These programs help detect diseases early and enable effective treatment.

Cervical Cancer Screening

• Women aged 25–34: cytology test every 3 years
• Women aged 35–59: HPV testing every 5 years (with cytology if HPV positive)
• If results are abnormal → referral for biopsy

Breast Cancer Screening

• Women aged 45–74: mammography every 2 years
• If abnormal → referral to a specialist

Prostate Cancer Screening

• Men aged 50–69 (or from 45 with family history)
• PSA blood test up to once every 2 years
• If elevated → referral to a urologist

Colorectal Cancer Screening

• Men and women aged 50–74
• Stool occult blood test every 2 years
• If positive → colonoscopy and possible biopsy

Cardiovascular Disease Prevention

• Men and women aged 40–60
• Risk assessment and individualized prevention plan
• Additional tests if needed (cholesterol, glucose, ECG, etc.)

Dental Services

Include:

• Treatment of dental caries, pulpitis, some types of periodontitis
• Removal of tartar
• Tooth extraction
• Preventive services for children (sealants)
• Bite anomaly detection and prevention

Note: Patients usually pay for materials (fillings, medications, disposable tools), except:

• Children under 18
• Students (up to age 24)
• Socially supported individuals (with certificate)

Immunization (Vaccination)

• Free vaccinations for children (according to national schedule)
• Flu vaccination (free for risk groups: ≥65 years, chronic diseases, pregnant women, residents of care institutions)
• Diphtheria and tetanus vaccination (for adults over 26)
• Pneumococcal vaccination (for risk groups)
• Rabies post-exposure vaccination (free after animal bites)

Laboratory Tests

Family doctors may order tests such as:

• Complete blood count
• CRP, ESR
• Glucose tests (including tolerance and HbA1c)
• Lipid profile
• Electrolytes (potassium, sodium)
• Creatinine, ferritin
• Liver enzymes
• Thyroid hormone (TSH)
• Coagulation tests (INR, aPTT)
• PSA
• Infectious disease tests (HIV, hepatitis B/C, syphilis)
• Urine tests and cultures
• ECG, spirometry, pulse oximetry
• And others required by regulations

• Vaccination
• Sample collection for microbiological tests
• Testing for parasites
• Cervical smear collection
• Earwax removal
• Removal of foreign bodies (eyes, ears, nose)
• Tick removal
• Treatment of minor wounds and dressing
• Various bandaging procedures

Important Information

• Only individuals covered by compulsory health insurance can register
• You do not need to transfer medical records – clinic staff will handle it
• You may choose your family doctor
• If the chosen doctor has reached the patient limit, you will be assigned another doctor
• To register or change doctor, visit the clinic with ID or contact the clinic
