About the Examination

X-ray is one of the most commonly used diagnostic methods. It is a fast, effective, and completely painless examination that helps diagnose various health conditions or injuries. It allows doctors to evaluate the condition of the lungs, heart and blood vessels, bones, and joints, as well as to monitor healing after bone fractures or dislocations.

During the examination, the body is exposed to a very small dose of ionizing radiation; however, modern technologies allow this exposure to be minimized while still ensuring high-quality results.

What is this examination for?

An X-ray examination is suitable for people of all ages who need evaluation of:

• bone structures (head, spine, shoulder girdle, upper and lower limbs, chest, pelvic bones),
• the respiratory system (lungs, bronchi, larynx),
• the circulatory system (heart, blood vessels),
• cystic or other inflammatory breast changes,
• oncological diseases or osteoporosis.

This examination is not recommended for pregnant women.

How to prepare for an X-ray examination

No special preparation is required. Before the examination, you may be asked to remove some clothing and take off jewelry that could interfere with the procedure.

Doctor’s referral

A referral from a general practitioner or a specialist is required to undergo this examination.

What happens during the examination?

The radiologist will ask you to stand against the X-ray unit and explain the position in which you will need to remain still for 2–4 seconds. The radiologist will observe the examined organs on a special monitor and take X-ray images.

The entire examination takes approximately 5–10 minutes.

After the examination

The radiologist will evaluate the images obtained during the examination and provide the results.
