Repeated procedure of feet nails fungus treatment
Nail Fungus Treatment
Fungal infections of the fingernails and toenails are common. Nail fungus is most often contracted in moist environments such as swimming pools, saunas, beaches, and gyms. The development of nail fungus is also influenced by improper, non-breathable footwear and nail injuries.
An infected nail changes color, becoming yellowish or whitish, rough, uneven, and may separate from the nail bed. If left untreated, the infection can spread to surrounding tissues, causing skin peeling, dryness, or even ulcers. Therefore, it is very important to consult a doctor as soon as the first signs of nail fungus appear.
Laser procedures are a fast and effective way to treat nail fungus.
During the Procedure
Before undergoing a laser procedure, it is necessary to perform a microbiological test to confirm the fungal infection.
During the procedure, laser beams destroy the fungi present on the nail and in the nail bed. A mild tingling sensation may be felt.
Usually, a treatment course consisting of 4–6 procedures is required, repeated every 4 weeks. The final result becomes visible once the affected nail has fully grown out—this may take up to 6 months for fingernails and up to 12 months for toenails.
After the Procedure
Proper nail care at home is very important to prevent the fungus from spreading or recurring:
- Keep your feet cool and dry at all times
- Avoid walking barefoot in pools, saunas, and other public places
- Use personal hygiene items, socks, and nail care tools (e.g., nail clippers)
