Neck area acne (pimples) treatment
Acne Treatment
Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, characterized by breakouts on the face, back, neck, and decolletage area. In some cases, breakouts may also occur in the groin and underarm regions. Acne is caused by increased activity of the skin's sebaceous glands. This may result from hormonal changes in the body, an unhealthy diet, unsuitable cosmetic products, or improper skin care and hygiene. Although acne most commonly affects younger individuals, adults may also suffer from this condition. If left untreated, acne can progress over time.
During the Procedure
The treatment area is cleansed, and any cosmetic products or makeup are removed. A water-based gel is then applied to the skin. The laser handpiece is placed against the skin and emits laser light, during which a mild tingling sensation may be felt. At the same time, the upper layer of the skin is cooled to minimize discomfort. The laser handpiece is moved across the treatment area in three different directions over the same skin surface. The heat generated by the laser beam destroys membrane proteins of acne-causing bacteria and disrupts blood circulation within the inflammatory lesions. This helps reduce inflammatory processes in the skin, decreasing redness, swelling, and the number of pustules. The activity of the sebaceous glands is also reduced. A course of 5–6 treatments at intervals of 7–10 days is recommended. The full treatment course should be completed within 50–60 days. More specific recommendations will be provided by a specialist after assessing the individual condition of the patient's skin.
The procedure may be mildly painful; therefore, local anesthesia can be applied if necessary. When local anesthesia is used, a topical anesthetic is applied to the skin.
After the Procedure
The treated area should not be subjected to trauma for at least 24 hours after the procedure. Any scabs that form should not be touched, moved, picked, or scratched. Other physical irritants, such as saunas, ultraviolet (UV) exposure, and similar factors, should also be avoided. Following the procedure, sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher must be applied to the laser-treated area for at least 4 weeks. Hair removal by waxing, sugaring, electric epilator, or tweezing should not be performed for 4 weeks prior to the laser procedure.
