Groin area acne (pimples) treatment
Acne Treatment
Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, characterized by breakouts on the face, back, neck, and decollete area. In some cases, breakouts may also occur in the groin and underarm regions. Acne is caused by increased activity of the skin's sebaceous glands. This may result from hormonal changes, an unhealthy diet, improperly selected cosmetic products, or inadequate skin hygiene. Although acne most commonly develops during adolescence, it can also affect adults, and if left untreated, the condition may progress.
During the Procedure
The treatment area is cleansed, and any cosmetic products or makeup are removed. A water-based gel is then applied to the skin. The laser handpiece is placed against the skin and emits laser energy, producing a mild tingling sensation. At the same time, the upper layer of the skin is cooled to minimize discomfort. The laser handpiece is moved across the treatment area in three different directions, repeatedly covering the same regions. The heat generated by the laser beam destroys membrane proteins of acne-causing bacteria and disrupts blood circulation within inflammatory lesions. This helps reduce inflammation, redness, swelling, and the number of pustules. Sebaceous gland activity is also decreased. A course of 5–6 treatments at intervals of 7–10 days is recommended. The entire treatment course should be completed within 50–60 days. More specific recommendations will be provided by a specialist after assessing the individual condition of the patient's skin.
The procedure may cause mild discomfort; therefore, local anesthesia may be administered if necessary. When local anesthesia is used, a topical anesthetic is applied to the skin.
After the Procedure
The treated area should not be subjected to trauma for at least 24 hours after the procedure. Any scabs that form should not be touched, moved, or picked, and other physical irritants (such as saunas, ultraviolet radiation, etc.) should be avoided. Sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) must be applied to the laser-treated area for at least 4 weeks following the procedure. Hair removal by waxing, sugaring, epilation, or tweezing should be avoided for 4 weeks prior to the laser treatment.
