Forehead area acne (pimples) treatment
Acne Treatment
Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, characterized by breakouts on the face, back, neck, and décolleté area. In some cases, lesions may also occur in the groin and underarm regions. Acne is caused by increased activity of the skin's sebaceous glands. This may result from hormonal changes, an unhealthy diet, unsuitable cosmetic products, or improper skin care and hygiene. Although acne most commonly affects adolescents and young adults, it can also occur in adults, and if left untreated, the condition may progress.
During the Procedure
The treatment area is cleansed, and any cosmetics or makeup are removed. A water-based gel is then applied to the skin. The laser handpiece is placed on the skin and emits laser light, causing a mild tingling sensation. At the same time, the upper layer of the skin is cooled to minimize discomfort. The laser handpiece is moved across the skin surface in three different directions over the same treatment areas. The heat generated by the laser beam destroys the membrane proteins of acne-causing bacteria and disrupts blood circulation within the inflammatory focus. As a result, inflammation is reduced, redness and swelling diminish, and the number of pustules decreases. The activity of the sebaceous glands is also reduced. A course of 5–6 treatments at intervals of 7–10 days is generally recommended. The entire treatment course should be completed within 50–60 days. More specific recommendations will be provided by a specialist after assessing the patient's individual skin condition.
The procedure may cause mild discomfort or pain. If necessary, local anesthesia may be used during the treatment. In such cases, a topical anesthetic is applied or administered to the skin.
After the Procedure
The treated area should not be traumatized for at least 24 hours following the procedure. Any scabs that form should not be touched, moved, or picked, and other physical irritants (such as saunas, ultraviolet radiation, and similar factors) should be avoided. Sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher should be applied to the treated area for at least 4 weeks after the procedure. Hair removal using wax, sugar paste, an electric epilator, or tweezers should be avoided for 4 weeks prior to the laser treatment.
