When Should You Seek Emergency Care?

This service is intended for adult patients who require immediate medical attention due to the following health conditions:

• Upper respiratory tract infections (cough, fever, sore throat)
• Acute fever
• Initial issuance of a sick leave certificate due to an acute medical condition
• Acute, severe, or moderate pain
• Limb injuries, increasing pain and swelling, minor bruises, sprains, and soft tissue injuries
• Allergic reactions with rash and itching, without respiratory symptoms
• Acute recurrent nausea and vomiting or recurrent diarrhea without signs of systemic intoxication
• Animal bites and scratches that do not require surgical wound treatment
• Eye conditions (discharge, itching, stye, foreign bodies) without vision impairment
• Superficial foreign bodies
• Minor burns provided none of the following are present:
  • Circumferential burns
  • Airway burns
  • Burns involving the face or neck
  • Burns involving the perineal area
  • Burns involving joints
  • Burns caused by high-energy trauma
• Wounds and frostbite
• Non-traumatic back pain
• Dehydration and fluid deficiency

Important: Emergency medical care is available to both patients who are registered with Meliva as their primary healthcare provider and those who are not.

Only in cases where the illness or health condition does not qualify as emergency medical care, and the patient does not have compulsory health insurance, services will be charged according to the price list approved by Meliva.
