Dental Surgery Center
Dental Surgery is a broad field of dentistry that includes services ranging from simple tooth extractions to complex jaw surgeries.
Tooth Extraction for Children and Adults
Tooth extraction (removal) may be necessary for various reasons, including dental caries (tooth decay), trauma, periodontitis, improper bite alignment, orthodontic treatment (for example, when the jaw is too small and several teeth must be removed to allow proper alignment), and other causes.
All tooth extractions are performed under local anesthesia, so patients do not experience pain or discomfort.
Extraction of Erupted Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt. They usually do not participate in chewing and often serve no functional purpose. Because they are located at the back of the mouth, they can be difficult to reach and clean. As a result, plaque and food debris often accumulate, leading to decay, gum disease, and other complications.
If necessary, all four wisdom teeth can be removed during a single visit.
Removal of Impacted (Unerupted) Teeth
Impacted teeth are fully formed but have not erupted. The removal of partially erupted or completely unerupted teeth requires specialized oral surgery expertise, so these procedures are performed by experienced oral surgeons.
All extractions—both simple and complex—are carried out under local anesthesia. During the procedure:
- a small incision is made in the gum,
- a small amount of bone is removed to expose the tooth,
- if necessary, X-rays are taken to ensure the procedure has been performed properly and no tooth fragments remain.
After extraction, each patient goes through an individual healing period. Patients receive detailed instructions for post-extraction oral care, including a printed information sheet.
Sinus Lift Procedure
A sinus lift is a surgical procedure used to increase the vertical height of the upper jawbone (alveolar ridge) by adding bone material—either the patient’s own or a synthetic substitute—to the floor of the sinus.
This procedure is indicated when there is insufficient bone volume for dental implant placement. It can be performed either before or during implant placement, depending on the individual case.
After the procedure, implants may be placed immediately or after a healing period of approximately 4–6 months.
Jaw Bone Augmentation (Bone Grafting)
Bone augmentation is performed when there are small bone defects and additional bone is needed at the site of a missing tooth for dental implant placement.
During the procedure:
- an incision is made in the gum,
- the affected area is filled with bone graft material,
- the graft is covered with a special resorbable membrane,
- the gum is sutured back in place.
Over time, the graft material integrates and becomes similar to natural bone. This procedure can be done either before or during implant placement, depending on the patient’s individual condition as evaluated by an oral surgeon.
